Melanie Hawcroft, General Manager

Melanie Hawcroft Melanie Hawcroft joined Law Staff Australia in 2000 and is the General Manager of our offices nationally. She recruits permanent and contract solicitors while also being one of Sydney’s leading specialists in the recruitment of permanent support staff. The support staff roles she recruits for include managers and executives, secretaries, paralegals, senior executive assistants and shared services staff including facilities, human resources, accounts and finance, IT, office services, marketing and knowledge management positions in law firms and corporate organisations.

Melanie has a degree in Industrial Relations from the University of NSW, a Masters in Industrial Relations / Human Resources Management from the University of Sydney (with Merit) and is a Member of the Australian Human Resources Institute.

Melanie has in depth knowledge of the workings of the Sydney legal profession and an extensive network of contacts established over her many years with Law Staff. She has many years' experience in the development and rollout of workplace change and training programs and also worked as an in-house legal secretary for a large multinational engineering firm in London.

With a strong understanding of the complex interrelationships that exist in an organisation, Melanie is able to quickly match candidates to the right role and vice versa. Through strong working relationships with clients and candidates alike, and her honest, ethical and service oriented approach, Melanie ensures a thorough and hassle free experience throughout the recruitment process.

Margaret Heath, Director

Margaret Heath Margaret Heath, our Australian Director, has 20 years experience in legal and executive recruitment, management and training roles. She has experience in all levels of recruitment from the most junior to senior roles. Prior to forming the companies Law Staff and Legal & Corporate Staff in 1994, Margaret was Personnel Manager for one of Australia’s largest law firms and in more recent times has added Law Partners and Law Temps to the Law Staff and Legal & Corporate Staff brand.

Margaret is a member of the Institute of Company Directors.

Rosemary Galic, Senior Consultant

Rosemary Galic Rosemary is a Senior Consultant at Law Staff, specialising in the recruitment of temporary legal support staff and professional contractors. She also recruits permanent legal support staff and lawyers at all levels, into legal private practice, corporate and government organisations.

Having completed degrees in Arts (Communications) and Law, Rosemary started her professional career as a lawyer at top tier firm Blake Dawson Waldron, where she practised in commercial property law for over four years. Following this Rosemary moved into legal recruitment. Becoming a Senior Consultant with another well known legal recruitment agency, Rosemary specialised in the recruitment of junior, mid-level and senior lawyers into legal private practice, both nationally and internationally.

Rosemary advises on market trends and recruitment strategies, career options, resume preparation, interviewing techniques and remuneration. She sources short term and permanent legal opportunities from a range of legal private practice, corporate and government clients.

Rosemary’s legal training and the networks she has established in the legal profession enable Rosemary to source quality candidates at all levels. It also ensures that Rosemary is briefed on the best opportunities in the market as they become available.

Samantha Cox Samantha Cox specialises in the recruitment of permanent legal support and shared services staff within the legal profession, with 3 years experience recruiting in the UK legal market.

With four years recruitment experience in Sydney and London, Samantha has recruited at all levels, predominantly within corporate / commercial and in-house practices, having a thorough understanding of the requirements of candidates and clients alike.

Samantha provides a high standard of professionalism by providing a service with emphasis on both the candidate’s interests and clients’ requirements, thus striving to meet the needs of all parties involved to the best of her ability.

Helen Gore, Consultant

Helen Gore Helen Gore specialises in permanent and contract recruitment of shared services and legal support staff.

Helen has over 10 years experience in both in-house and agency environments, providing recruitment solutions to professional services markets in Sydney, London and Cardiff.

Helen started her recruitment career as a specialist IT recruiter and has since in provided recruitment services to corporate clients within the accounting and finance industries as well as to the legal profession.

Helen’s most recent experience has been in legal recruitment, working inhouse with one of the UK’s largest commercial law firms, prior to which she spent time as an external recruitment consultant. In both of these roles, Helen delivered high volume shared services, secretarial and professional recruitment at all levels.

Helen’s success as a legal recruitment consultant is a result of her ability to work with a focus on quality and fast turnaround in demanding performance-driven environments. Helen enjoys partnering with clients and candidates, developing open and honest working relationships.
