You will work closely with industry leaders to provide advice on  some of the most complex and contentious matters which will involve representing your client in the District, Supreme and High Courts in some of Queensland’s largest and most complex WorkCover litigation cases. This will include:
  • Workers compensation claims in relation to the Workers’ Compensation Act 1990; WorkCover Queensland Act 1996; and Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003.
  • You may also gain some exposure to asbestos and dust diseases
  • Other complex claims where, for example, psychiatric injury  arising from bullying or harassment, trauma, excessive workloads or asbestos exposure has been alleged. 
Your role will involve:
  • conducting complex civil proceedings
  • providing high-level legal advice
  • dispute resolution including negotiating settlements, conducting conferences and mediations
  • conducting complex trials in all jurisdictions
  • identification and evaluation of risk management in personal injuries litigation.
3+ Years PAE
The ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics:
  • Between 3 to 10 years post admission experience within a defendant insurance workers compensation team; 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills of a high professional standard;
  • Exceptional drafting skills;
  • High level of commercial acumen, and
  • Ability to work effectively both autonomously and in a team environment.
