THE ROLE:

Due to reporting to the General Counsel, you will be responsible for executing the existing risk management framework, assisting the business in identifying and mitigating risks as well as delivering and improving the existing compliance program. This is a business partnership role and you will be expected to work with the business in providing support and guidance whilst delivering key results in:

Risk:
  • implementation of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework, policies and procedures in identifying and managing risks across the business operations.
  • Monitor emerging risks for the business through horizon scanning and recommendations

  • undertake impact assessments of emerging regulatory change and developments and confirm any changes to compliance obligations.
  • assist the General Counsel in coordinating compliance and legal risk management training and activities.
  • Assist with business continuity plans and testing
This is an intellectually stimulating and rewarding career environment where you will collaborate with like-minded professionals who believe in the broader corporate objectives. You will also get the opportunity to build your specialist  team over time.

WHAT'S REQUIRED:

You will have  8+ years' experience in similar roles.

You may be a highly experienced Risk & Compliance Officer, or alternatively a qualified Lawyer of 8+ years PAE with specialist experience in legal risk and compliance in the resources sector (mining, water, energy), industrial (construction, heavy machinery), or possibly in a very hands-on risk audit and compliance consulting services role.

Regardless of sector, you must have the ability to deliver results with a partnership and customer centric approach. We regret to advise that we are not looking for applications from candidates who feel confident they can simply 'do' the role. More so we are seeking applications from candidates with a career built around risk and compliance together with a continuing interest in a career as a legal risk and compliance specialist.

Applications are open to Australian Residents or those currently with the right to work in Australia as sponsorship is not able to be provided. In addition, whilst there is some workplace flexibility, regrettably the role will not suit someone looking to work fully remote or on a FIFO basis. Some travel may be required from time to time.

REMUNERATION:

In order to attract high calibre candidates, a competitive salary is on offer and is negotiable in line with experience.

When expressing your interest, please indicate what your expectations are in that regard so that we may come to understand where you see your value in a role such as this.

OUR THOUGHTS:

This is an exciting company to work in and the role will provide the stimuli you may be searching for.  It provides an opportunity for the successful candidate to grow as a professional and to put their own stamp on the organisation and the pride attached to that.

Should you have the appropriate skillset, confidence and modesty to become a part of this high-performance organisation then we encourage you to express your interest by sending in your CV to craig@lawstaff.com.au quoting
REF: IHRC090324.

Please ensure your document has sufficient detail to assess against the job requirements as candidates expecting to be assessed solely against their role title may be disappointed if we are unable to identify your transferrable skills.

We look forward to engaging with shortlisted candidates.
