You will work closely with industry leaders to provide advice on some of the most complex and contentious matters which will involve representing your client in the District, Supreme and High Courts in some of Queensland’s largest and most complex litigation cases.
The varied work mix will include:
- Conducting complex civil proceedings;
- Personal Injury claims, public liability matters, historical child sexual abuse claims and medical indemnity claims;
- Matters before all State and Federal Courts and Tribunals;
- Providing representation at and advice on dispute resolution procedures;
- Drafting pleadings, affidavits and other court documents;
- Appearing as Counsel on interlocutory applications;
- Advice, submissions and correspondence in relation to liability, evidence, quantum settlement, costs or other aspects of matters arising from the carriage of the action.;
- Dispute resolution including negotiating settlements, conducting conferences and mediations; and
- Identification and evaluation of risk management in personal injuries litigation.
- Between 3 and 8 years post admission experience;
- Coming out of a defendant insurance team (Plaintiff candidates may also be considered); and
- Be open to an initial 1 year contract (running through at least mid 2026) - this is an excellent pathway to future in-house or government opportunities
