THE OPPORTUNITY

We are partnering with the executive leadership team of a respected national law firm to identify a seasoned legal practitioner for a strategic Partner-level role within its Energy & Resources division, based in Brisbane.

This firm is nationally recognised for its legal depth and commercial acumen, with clients spanning top-tier corporates, mid-sized enterprises, and multiple tiers of government. Its team of Partners and senior lawyers are known not only for their legal capability but also for their interactive approach, strategic thinking, and reliability in executing complex transactions within tight timeframes.

Brisbane’s office contributes over $50 million in revenue annually, with the firm now seeking to deepen 5 of its 14 specialist practice areas.

  
WHO THEY’RE LOOKING FOR

The firm is open to a lateral hire at Partner level, or may consider elevating a strong Special Counsel ready to take that next step should that person have a strong client profile.

Your experience may sit across one or more of the following:

Resources
  • Project structuring and financing
  • Negotiation of sophisticated agreements (e.g. exploration, production, infrastructure)
  • M&A, JV structuring, and advisory on divestments
  • General corporate advisory

Renewable Energy
  • Legal support across wind, hydro, pumped hydro, solar, and battery projects
  • Drafting and negotiation of leases, options, and financial instruments
  • Regulatory and tenure advice for pipeline infrastructure
  • End-to-end project and transactional support
You’ll need to be confident in managing client relationships, mentoring lawyers, and driving outcomes. Prior experience in a leading firm acting for high-calibre clients will be an asset.

EARNING POTENTIAL

Compensation is aligned to both your individual contribution and the value of your practice. Indicative earnings are strong at various levels:
  • Salaried Partners: $400K – $550K+
  • Entry-level Equity Partners: from $1.2M
  • Full Equity (100 points): $4M+
