The Role
Law Staff is assisting an award winning, specialist law firm who is seeking a Legal Accounts / Bookkeeper to join the firm on a permanent part-time basis.
The day-to-day work mix of matters includes but is not limited to the following:
- Routine book-keeping, including maintenance of the general ledger and reconciliation of accounts - monitor online bank accounts for the allocation of all incoming electronic payments
- Processing and banking of incoming cheques and cash payments
- Process accounts receivable and accounts payable and prepare monthly client invoices
- Trust accounting - receipting funds into the Trust account, processing EFT payments from the Trust account, preparing cheques for property and other settlements, preparing relevant documents in relation to settlements for bank cheques to be prepared
- Maintaining investment register/controlled monies accounts
- End of month reconciliations and reports
- Debtor management
- Respond to client and staff inquiries concerning invoices
- Maintain and update general ledger
- Taking card payments
- Reconciling office petty cash transactions
- Assisting with internal reporting
- Scan, file and log accounting documents
- Entering safe custody records
- Other ad-hoc requests
To secure this role, you will have:
- Proven experience as an Accounts Clerk/Officer or Bookkeeper in a law firm;
- Knowledge of legal accounting practices and procedures;
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite;
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy;
- Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
