Planning & Environment Lawyer (Associate / Senior Associate) National firm. Genuine flexibility. Real mentoring. A culture that actually delivers.

Why This Firm? This award-winning national firm combines high-quality work with a people-first culture—where flexibility, wellbeing, and inclusion are built into the way the firm operates, not just talked about.

What sets them apart:
  • Flexible and hybrid working that fits around your life
  • Wellbeing-focused benefits, including an annual allowance, wellness programs, a parents’ room, and trained Mental Health First Aid Officers
  • Structured career development with clear progression pathways, mentoring, and study support
  • An inclusive, social culture with regular firm events, social sports, and team activities
  • Meaningful recognition through bonuses, milestone rewards, and referral programs
  • A genuine commitment to diversity and inclusion, supported by dedicated internal committees
The Opportunity Join a nationally recognised Planning & Environment team advising on some of Queensland’s most complex and high-profile projects. The team works across the full lifecycle of matters—from front-end approvals to disputes, enforcement, and remediation.

You’ll work closely with a senior leader in the field and advise a diverse client base including developers, energy and resources companies, manufacturers, insurers, and government bodies. The role also offers collaboration across practice groups, particularly where environmental liability and insurance intersect.

Your Work Will Include:
  • Development applications, permits, and approvals
  • Environmental compliance and regulatory advice
  • Planning and environmental disputes
  • Incident response and enforcement matters
  • Environmental liability and insurance issues
  • Risk management, rehabilitation, and decommissioning
  • Valuations, resumptions, objections, and compensation claims
You’ll have real autonomy to run matters, contribute strategically, and develop under the guidance of a mentor who is invested in your success.
About You
  • 3+ years’ experience in planning and environment law (Associate or Senior Associate level)
  • Strong technical capability with a practical, strategic mindset
  • Collaborative, engaged, and interested in mentoring
  • Clear communicator with a client-focused approach
