What You’ll Be Doing
Working closely with the CFO and senior stakeholders across the business, as the Senior Legal Counsel for Australia, you’ll be responsible for:
- Franchise Compliance - overseeing all franchise legal documentation including franchise agreements, disclosure documents, and compliance registers
- Commercial Contracting - preparing, negotiating, and reviewing a wide range of contracts such as supplier agreements, sponsorship deals, and property leases
- Governance & Risk - advising on risk management, privacy matters, and legislative developments; participating in internal committees as needed
- Board Reporting - preparing accurate and concise legal updates for board and leadership consideration
- External Counsel Engagement - managing instructions and relationships with external advisors
- Leadership - providing guidance to a capable Legal & Events Administrator
This role is ideally suited to a commercially minded, confident communicator with:
- 5+ years’ post-admission experience, ideally in a franchising-heavy environment
- Proven experience with franchise law, including preparing disclosure documents and managing franchisee relationships
- Strong commercial contracting experience, with the ability to balance legal risk against business needs
- The confidence to work independently and interface with executives and cross-functional teams
- A collaborative and practical approach, and the ability to work at pace in a large, evolving business
