  • Package $175K to $205K + Annual 13% STI
THE CLIENT

Our client is a global leader in the renewable energy and agribusiness sectors. It operates globally and has more than 75,000 employees. With annual revenues exceeding $1B, it is ranked as one of the largest listed companies by market cap in the Asia Pacific.

Its Australian and New Zealand operations are home to more than 2000 employees, with its Senior Executives spread evenly throughout Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Auckland and other major centres.

THE ROLE

This position will see you at Senior Legal Counsel level and working closely with the General Counsel/CoSec. Liaising with highly collaborative management teams across a number of diverse business units, in this centralised function you can expect this position to be focused on:
  • procurement and commercial contracts- reviewing and negotiating terms across a broad range of commercial procurement applications including supply agreements; sales and marketing agreements; professional services (legal, accounting, engineering); specialist consulting services; as well as transport (rail, road, shipping);
  • construction contracts - drafting and negotiating O&M contracts for capital works projects and maintenance of facilities utilising bespoke precedents based on Australian Standard form contracts;
  • general commercial- workplace health and safety issues; advising on FIRB issues and ISDAs; reviewing lease agreements and easements; assisting the GC with Co Sec requirements and general compliance issues; as well as general corporate advisory.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

You will have 8 to 18 years post-admission experience and be able to work full-time. You will have a level of competency and ability to work autonomously to fulfil the expectations of a Senior Legal Counsel.

Innately, you are a person who is committed to excellence and you are service-oriented towards business unit managers. You will also have developed a commercially pragmatic approach to providing legal solutions within acceptable risk parameters.

As a mandatory core skill set, you must have demonstrative skills in drafting diverse/general commercial contracts (from templates and from first principles on occasion), particularly when assisting senior executives on novel transactions. You will have recently worked in-house or within a respected national firm environment where your skills have been honed and where you may have taken an in-house Secondment.

To be considered for this role you must be an Australian Resident and have a current Australian practising certificate. In addition, this is a Brisbane based position, therefore you must be prepared to relocate if you are interstate as the requirements of this role cannot be fulfilled under a 100% remote scenario.

REMUNERATION & BENEFITS

Remuneration is attractive and will be negotiated with the individual. As a general guide, a total package of $175K to $205K (inclusive of superannuation) is budgeted for the role. There is an additional annual 13% STI as well as stretch bonuses for those of you who are over-achievers.

Our client’s corporate offices are in the Brisbane CBD. As a large organisation, they will provide access to workplace flexibility arrangements after a brief transitional period.

This is a highly professional yet relaxed work environment centred on technical competence, mutual respect, service delivery, and a collaborative team mindset.
